Hi, I’m Allie. I teach journalists and build small tools to make sense of the technologies reshaping how news gets made.

At ASU’s Walter Cronkite School, my students and I dig into audience, attention and the tech arriving faster than newsrooms can keep up with. I build with these tools myself, learning what AI makes possible, where it fails and who it overlooks.

    An interview lab that teaches active listening, synthesis and interpretation. Students practice real-time questioning under pressure with no interruptions; instructors get a full transcript of every decision, question and adjustment.

    Can an AI assistant carry an investigation through sourcing, interviews, research and the final draft? A fellow professor and I are finding out, keeping notes on what works and what doesn’t. In progress.

    An automated galley-proof reader that checks a draft against itself and nothing else. It flags only internal contradictions — dates, math, names — and leaves every call to the human. In beta.

    Anchored document diff

    Drop in two versions of the same document: an ordinance, a budget, yesterday's story. Revise returns a side-by-side markup and a change list, every change anchored to the exact before and after text. It finds what changed and never says what it means. That part stays with you. New.

    Direct-quote checker

    Paste a draft and the transcripts behind it. Every direct quote gets checked against the tape, word for word: found verbatim, changed inside the quote marks, stitched from separate answers or not found at all. Receipts attached. The calls stay yours. New.
